Alice in Wonderland Dolls

I am totally in love with the Alice in Wonderland line of dolls from Tonner Dolls. And, this is odd--I've never been a big fan of the Lewis Carroll story. However, I love the dolls and outfits in the line. I have no intention of ever displaying the dolls in any sort of Alice in Wonderland way--no White Rabbits for me! Instead, to my eye, the Alice doll is one of the prettiest sculpts for a child fashion doll that works in the world of adult 16" fashion dolls. I decided with a friend that she is Marley's prettier friend (sorry, Marley--I'm a big fan of your's too, and my daughter, who is devoted to Marley, won't give the Alice dolls a second look. Go figure!).

Alice also has some great Victorian era outfits available. In my mind, I see her in vignettes with old fashion toys, or on an old fashioned picnic. The two new outfits are Victorian Stripes and Tea With The Queen, although you can still find some of the Fall 2006 outfits now.

This barely leaves me time to talk about the Queen of Hearts, and, especially in her Coronation finery, she cannot be ignored. Coronation is regal and elaborate. And as with Alice, her other outfits can be used for all Tyler sized fashion dolls--such as the lovely nightgown Sweetheart Dreaming.

Tyler Boutique

Ok...here is going to be my only truly negative criticism of the Tonner Dolls line this year. I was very disappointed with the Boutique, especially when paired with the Fall Boutique from 2005. Too much emphasis on feathered skirts, brocaded pants and what I would call NY club outfits. Also disappointing, again, are the lack of casual pants and jeans to wear all the tops with. In my opinion, the City Jeans sold out so quickly in Fall 2005 becuase of this, and we have nothing like that in this line. I'd like to see some more classic pieces in the collection (yes, I like the Navy coat and skirt, but I need a blouse for it--like the white blouse shown but not sold separately in the collection!). I'd like to see more balance in the separates for Fall 2006--fun young and flirty is fine, in moderation.

Also, I was disappointed to not find separately available pairs of shoes this time around, which I have found to be very popular with collectors.
