Guide Review - Lark, Creamsicle, a 14 inch Ball Jointed Doll by Helen Kish
This year is the first year that Kish & Company has offered 14 inch resin dolls. The first three dolls, Lark (Creamsicle or Little Lady), Wren (Pistashio) and Raven (Cheeky) are sold out nearly everywhere. At a suggested retail of $200, the dolls are expensive, but, as mentioned above they are a bargain compared to most other ball jointed dolls.Lark, Creamsicle Wears a very well made outfit--a sweet cream jumper with a tiny zipper in back and embroidered and ruffled accents, and underneath it a nice cotton body suit. She also has striped over-the-knee socks and peach colored shoes. She has a very red mohair wig with two braided accents.
I love the delicate face painting that Lark has...her eyes are painted with the dreamy Kish-look (in blues) and the rest of the face painting is appropriately delicate.
The doll is well-balanced and can stand on her own without a doll stand, which is great for display. Separate clothing is not available at this time, but I know many collectors are already sewing for Lark. Also, it seems that she fits American BJD shoes (although not the outfits, since the American BJD dolls are 2 inches taller).
It is wonderful to see another American doll artist making ball jointed dolls! Lark and her sisters Wren and Raven are a worthy addition to the ball jointed doll family!
