Hopefully, a movie directed by the renowned Steven Soderbergh, the Oscar-winning director of Traffic and Ocean's Eleven, helps to change all that.
Filmed at the Lee Middleton Doll Factory
The movie, Bubble is famous in Hollywood circles for being one of the first movies ever to be released simultaneously in theaters, on cable and on DVD, Within the doll community, the movie is known for being shot, in large part, in a doll factory. And, not just any doll factory, but the Lee Middleton Original Dolls factory in Belpre, Ohio.
Parts of the Dollmaking Process Are Shown
Reviewers of the movie have noted that the location in the doll factory sets an interesting tone for the movie. Several of the factory workers appear in the movie, and various aspects of the dollmaking process are shown. According to a report in the West Virginia State Journal: "Throughout the film, we see in detailed fashion the construction of a doll at Ohio's Lee Middleton Original Dolls plant, and "Bubble" intrinsically values manufacturing as it relates to skilled workers."
Murder At the Doll Factory
Soderbergh uses "real people" for the roles in the movie and not trained actors, and some of the movie is unscripted. And, the plot is not what one might expect at a doll factory--the movie centers around the murder of a young single mom who works at the doll factory.
