Music, Acrobats and Fun at at the HP Pavilion Before Meg's Keynote Address
Controlled bedlam reigned in the hour of partying at the HP Pavilion which reigned for the hour before Meg's keynote address. There were duck races on the giant screens, free stadium food of all types, giant balls being batted around, rock music, acrobats which hung from ropes off the ceiling and unfurled eBay color banners, etc. It set a fun mood that lasted throughout the convention, and it set a receptive mood for Meg's keynote.
In the keynote, Meg (eBay's CEO) and Bill Cobb (eBay's President of North America) reflected on eBay's past and future. Short films on the giant screen showed the stories of some eBay members and how eBay changed their lives. Also, the Postmaster General of the United States was on hand to announce the eBay $7.70 ship it anywhere in the domestic United States boxes (at any weight--if it fits!) and that some improvements for ease of shipping International packages were on the way.
The keynote was the major event for Thursday night. On Friday night, there was the barbecue at Great American and then the 10th anniversary gala with the B-52s on Saturday night. Everyone who attended those events said they were well planned and fun, with a true celebratory air on Saturday night.
