"The Little Prince Tour"
At Theriault's annual "Cheval d'Or
Society Banquet and Celebration" on January 8, 2000, Theriault's announced
its sponsorship of "Le Petit Prince: Grand
Tour 2000." This year-long event will promote the hobby of Doll Collecting
worldwide. For the tour, noted doll artist R.John
Wright has created a one-of-a kind version of The Little Prince (which is
breathtaking!). The feature that makes this Little Prince very special is that he
has glass eyes--which makes him the only R.John Wright creation to have glass eyes.
The Little Prince will travel the world to
major doll events and museums, collecting small gifts and remembrances of its stops along
the way, plus photographs of The Little Prince in each place he visits. Next January, at
Theriault's Auction weekend, the doll and its belongings will be
auctioned, with all proceeds going to
benefit UNICEF.
As The Little Prince travels, doll collectors, observers and children worldwide will be able to sign his guest book, so that people from various cultures will be able to share their love of dolls. Additional sponsors will present The Little Prince with gifts--the first gift will be from Louis Vuitton, who will present The Little Prince with his first gift--a travel bag (of course!)
Stops on "Le Petit Prince Grand Tour 2000" will include:
--Toy Fair (New York City)
--FAO Schwartz (New York City)
--Polchinelle Show (Paris)
--Au Nain Bleu (Paris)
--Australia
--Germany (Teddy Bear Convention)
--Space Center (New Mexico)
--Japan (at a special doll exhibit)
--Indianapolis Children's Museum
--Viva La France (New Orleans)
The Little Prince is traveling at an opportune time--when collectors of all types are bringing back the concept of "travel dolls." Look for more information on travel dolls in a future article.
