DATE OF PRODUCTION: 1997
CHARACTERISTICS OF DOLL: Gene is designed by Mel Odom, this outfit
designed by Doug James. . Doll is dressed in an ivory coat dress with
princess tailoring with a sash at waist Under the coat is a peach-colored
chemise slip. The hat has braided trim and felt accents. Comes with
a clutch handbag, yellow gloves, shoes, hose and a tine "orchid"
corsage.
PRICE: $30 to $60 on eBay for MIB and NRFB dolls.
COMMENTS: This dressed Gene was retired in 1998. Gene is the very popular fashion doll introduced in 1995 and currently still in production.
MARKET REPORT: The bottom has fallen out of the Gene doll market in the last 5 years, with too much supply and not enough demand. This doll can be found at online auctions, MIB, for under what the original wholesale value of the doll was when released in 1999.
