TOYS R US BUYS IMAGINARIUM CHAIN
Imaginarium, the wonderful educational toy
chain, is being acquired by Toys "R" Us. Imaginarum owns 41 stores in 13
states, and is a favorite with parents wanting quality, educational toys and dolls for
their children. TRU says that it will continue to operate the stores under the
Imaginarium name; in addition, TRU will have Imaginarium educational toy areas in their
new prototype stores. The prototype TRUs will have cleaner layouts, larger non-toy
areas including electronics and sporting items, and better sales help. By the end of
next year, TRU will have 550 of these newly remodeled stores. Is this good for the toy and
doll industry? As a mother of two young children, I have mixed feelings about
it. If the merger brings more of the wonderful Imaginarium toys to locations that
don't have Imagnariium stores, that is a good thing! If TRU weakens the concept,
that is NOT such a good thing.
eBay NEW LOOK scheduled for TODAY!
Well, the new look eBay look is scheduled to
start AROUND July 27! The new look hasn't been implemented as of this morning.
Will the implementation happen this week? Will it crash all of eBay?
eBay believes that the new design will make it easier for new users to
navigate the site, and the new design makes heavier use of the Galleries. There are
additional ICONS on the listing pages as well (but, not the Reserve icon often requested
by many sellers). What do YOU think of the new design (visit the FORUM to discuss!) and keep checking eBay to see when the new design is implemented.
