2001 FASHION MODEL BARBIE DOLLS SOLD OUT: There have been
several reports that the 2001 Fashion Model (Silkstone) Barbie
collection has sold out at the dealer level (which means that dealers
cannot place additional orders for these dolls). This doesn't mean
that YOU won't be able to get these dolls--many retailers buy more than
their pre-orders, including large retailers such as FAO Schwarz, and you
can also buy these dolls directly from Mattel. Last year's Fashion
Model Collection sold out to dealers, but you can still find almost all of
the dolls except for the Brunette Fashion Model at a reasonable
price). BUT...this collection of Barbie dolls DOES continue to
grow in popularity, so if you MUST have them, again, you should put in a
pre-order with your favorite dealer.
TOYS
R US PROFITS UP 6.8 PERCENT!: With
all the difficult news regarding the toy industry lately, there is finally
some GOOD news--Toys R Us reported strong holiday sales PLUS a turnaround
of its money-losing Internet site (now paired with Amazon.com) which
helped them post a 6.8 percent increase in fourth-quarter profits, beating
Wall Street expectations by a penny. Additionally, TRU named president and
CEO John Eyler to the additional post of chairman. Eyler was the former
top executive at FAO Schwarz, and he became chief executive officer in
January 2000. Eyler credited the company's
remodeling of several stores to make them easier to get around and its
tripling of online sales during the holiday season. Toys R Us said
it plans to convert 250 more stores to its new, easier-to-navigate format
this year in larger markets. By holiday 2001, the company expects that all
of the stores in the U.S. division will have improved service and
merchandise.
THERIAULTS THEMED TEN 2 GO AUCTIONS:
Theriaults is going to make it easier to shop with its new, THEMED Ten2Go

Each Thursday, Theriaults will begin auctions around a
"theme." This Thursday
the site will feature a collection of high quality teddy bears! including Original
Hermann Teddy Bears, Bears
by Merrythought of England, Classic Steiff Mohair Bears, Artist Bears by
Robert Raikes, and Nostalgia
Knickerbocker Mohair Bears. Later auctions will focus on Dollhouse
Miniatures, German China Heads, Vintage Barbie, Vintage Barbie Clothing,
Accessories for HP dolls like Ginny, and a "Parts Day."
TYLER WENTWORTH 2001 SELL-OUTS: Midnight Garden (limited
to 1000) and Standing Ovation (limited to 1500--DOTY Nominee)
Tyler Wentworth dolls have sold out on the dealer level. If you have
a standing pre-order, check with your dealer to make sure that their
allotment will cover your pre-order. Again, this doesn't mean that
you cannot get these dolls--there ARE dealers who still have unsold
allotments, but if you MUST have either of these dolls, you should
pre-order them as soon as possible. Also note that MANY of the Tyler
dolls and outfits are limited to editions of 2,000 or less this year--the
same with Alexandra Fairchild Ford dolls from MA.
TYLER WENTWORTH VERY LIMITED BRIDE DOLL: A very
limited Tyler Wentworth Bride doll has just been announced--limited to 500
pieces have been announced. The doll will be sold with a book titled
"Here Come The Bride Dolls." As soon as I have a clear
photo of this doll available, I will post it for everyone....if you want
this doll, I would order quickly!
