GINNY AUCTION: The Theriault's "Hi, I'm Ginny!" auction was
held on Saturday (September 23). The vintage Ginny market is
HOT--most items brought prices WELL above estimate. Highlights
include $1,850 for a Toodles composition aviator, $1,300
THERIAULT'S VINTAGE BARBIE AUCTION: The "Retro Barbie" auction was held on Sunday (September 24). Although the prices weren't as red-hot as the vintage Ginny prices, strong prices were realized for hard-to-get items in mint condition. The rare Braniff Hostess set brought $3,550. An American Girl with light brown hair mint in box brought $1,800. A rare Barbie side-part case with doll brought $2,000 and a Midnight Color Magic NRFB brought $2,500. There were many licensed products in the auction, and prices were not as strong for those. Look for a full auction report later this week! THERIAULT'S ANTIQUE AUCTION: Also on Saturday, Theriaults held its "Echoes of Old Remembered Rooms" auction. As usual, Theriaults presented an outstanding assortment of antique dolls at this auction An special treat were some lovely, rare antique German dollhouses and roomboxes which were outstanding in their furnishing and condition. A rare German Wooden' Red Roof" Dollhouse by Gottschalk brought $22,000, well over the $7,400/$9,500 estimate. Angel's Attic (a doll and miniature museum in Santa Monica, California) won an amazing German Wooden Dollhouse Grocery Roombox in the Art Nouveau Manner, from about 1890. The stores are jockeying for position and putting together strategic plans including exclusives on certain dolls and toys (only Amazon will carry the Harley Barbie online). The holiday season is truly make-or-break for online toy retailers--last year, Amazon.com did 41% of its entire business for the YEAR in the 4th quarter. 1953 Ginny. Some molded-lash Ginny walkers were sold more
