The Bottom Line
Finally, a good-looking male fashion doll with a well-sculpted, poseable body that isn't effeminate or harsh-looking. OK, he's a little young for me, but he's the perfect age for Tyler, Brenda, and your other 16-inch modern fashion dolls. A true bonus is the quality, well-tailored clothing that is available separately--Matt is set for business or casual times with Tyler.

Guide Review - Doll Review: Tee & PJs Matt O'Neill
This review is part of a series of reviews on the "basic", ready-to-dress large-sized fashion dolls. I'm a big fan of 16" fashion dolls, but its seldom I'm this effusive about any one doll in particular. However, fashion doll collectors have long-waited for a male fashion doll that looks masculine, looks great with the female dolls and has a versatile, well-made wardrobe. With Matt, the wait is over. Matt is the perfect companion to Tyler Wentworth, but also works well with Brenda Starr (in fact, I like Matt better with Brenda than Tyler!) Alex by Madame Alexander, and other similar dolls (although I do think he is a little too modern-looking for Gene).
<p>
Matt's back-story is a little fantastic (rich family, financial consultant in New York AND a firefighter) but it DOES allow him to have a fantastic, very-varied wardrobe (you can already buy a firefighter's outfit for Matt, a business suit and casual wear). Matt is officially Tyler's boyfriend, after he attended "to a fire alarm at the Wentworth country home."

For $59.99, you get quite a bit for your money with this basic doll--extensive articulation, and a nice basic outfit that includes pj bottoms with a draw-string elastic waist, a tee-shirt, and fuzzy slippers! There is also a cup of coffee and a bagel included with Matt--just the perfect touch.

One small complaint--the doll sheds bits of hair when you take him out of the box--just like he had a fresh hair cut! Shaking vigorously over a sink solves the problem.
