Very Valentine Tyler Event Raises More Than $18,000 For Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS
This year was the fifth eve-of Toy Fair Tonner Doll Company Fashion Show, but this year's event was extra-special because it was a benefit to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
The doll community joined together tonight to raise over $18,000+ tonight through purchases of the very limited (600 pieces) Very Valentine Tyler doll and donations.
The reception and fashion show were fantastic. Many of the dolls from the 2004 Tyler line were dramatically displayed on white pedestals, with an original drawing of the doll hung behind the doll. Waiters circulated with delicious pastries and tiny ice cream treats and champagne.
The fashion show featured models resembling Tyler, Esme, Matt, Carrie and others from the Tyler Wentworth line modeling over 40 full-sized replicas of the fashions from this year's line.
I'll have more photos from the live fashion show and the doll display online this week. Tomorrow, Toy Fair 2004 gets under way. I'll be attending the Doll Reader breakfast, where their DOTY awards (Doll Of The Year) will be announced. I'll also be seeing the Madame Alexander, Zapf, Barbie Collectibles and Ashton Drake dolls tomorrow, so stay tuned for more reports Live From Toy Fair right here at Doll Collecting at About.com!
