A Doll Play Setting Using Doll Furniture and Outfits: Katie's Engagement Party
Of course, after you have set up your doll cases, and perhaps sewn for your dolls you may really want to play. Many collectors like to set up settings for their dolls. I like to do this, and I do this through doll play with my daughter. Here, we were literally playing with the dolls on the floor (hence, the carpet) and since my daughter's Tyler named "Katie" had gotten engaged to a Matt doll, the setting is of an engagement party. Here, a caterer (dressed in an Alexandra Fairchild Ford doll's maid outfit)portrayed by a Mystique Angelina is serving food (a tray of pastries from a Brenda Starr outfit) to Sydney and another Tyler doll. "Katie" is out of view at the other side of the table. In the setting, you can see a Tyler armoire, Tyler Wentworth dining set and a Tyler Wentworth piano.
So, for us, furniture scaled to our dolls is a big part of play; you can do doll settings without it, but the furniture definitely helps to set the mood and pose the dolls. We also love to use accessories; besides the tray of food, there is also another silver platter on the table, a coffee cup and a champagne glass.
