Guide Review - Book Review: Fifteen Years of Friends by Marie Osmond
I really enjoyed sitting down with this book and a nice cup of tea. The book exudes Marie's warmth and personality, and the book is filled with lovely color doll photos on high quality paper.
The book begins with a wonderful secton where Marie writes about her dolls, her collectors, and her family. This is my favorite part of the book since you feel as if you are sitting down and talking to Marie - it is very much in her own voice. It was especially fun to see Marie mention my inclusion of her Olive May Loving Tribute and her Babies-A-Bloom dolls in our Hot Holiday Dolls of 2004 - Marie really notices everything!
This section is followed by a look at Marie's dolls from 2000 to 2006; an earlier book covers the first ten years of her dolls (see below). The best feature of this section is that Marie gives comments on the dolls, and the comments are easy to find since they appear in Marie's own handwriting. Marie's handwriting was made into a special font used to create this book, and it is used with great effect here. The dolls are logically arranged in series, and an index in the back makes specific dolls easy to find (although you'll need your reading glasses for the light and small index print!)
Finally, there is a fun section which includes photos of Marie, Marie's friends and Marie's collectors at various doll events around the country. At the very back of the book, blank pages are provided for the reader to add their own doll memories and signatures of doll friends.
