Guide Review - Book Review: Doll Directory
I would have also liked to see large doll shops listed in the book, since many doll collectors also enjoy visiting doll shops during travel. Quite a bit of book space is devoted to interviews with museum curators and doll doctors and other people in the doll industry, and I would have preferred to see a section on doll shops instead, since I think this book's strength is as a reference for travelers, and not for reading entertainment.
The detail given on the musuem exhibits is exceptional and welcome, and it is also helpful to know where the few remaining doll hospitals are located. I didn't find the "dream doll destinations" sections terribly helpful, since the destinations were basically five states selected for their higher concentration of doll points of interest. However, those doll points of interest were often spread very far across the selected state requiring many hours of travel--perhaps "dream doll cities' might have been more useful
Overall, however, this book is unlike others on the market and of great utility to all doll-loving travelers, and I recommend it to them.
