The Bottom Line

Teen Trends are great, larger sized fashion dolls for tweens. These dolls bridge the gap between children's play dolls like Barbie and Bratz and adult fashion dolls like Gene, Tyler and other large size fashion dolls. The larger heads and more stylized doll features of these dolls will appeal to the tweens, yet the dolls have sophisticated, nicely styled clothing and great accessories. There are some issues with the hair that Mattel needs to work out; otherwise, these are highly recommended.

Guide Review - Doll Review: Teen Trends Dolls

My daughter is 10 and she has helped me review the Teen Trend dolls. She loves these dolls so much that she hasn't even looked at her Barbie and Bratz dolls this week. She is already egging for the clothing and the dolls' dogs for Christmas!

Actually, as an adult fashion doll collector, I love these dolls, too. The $39.99 suggested retail may seem steep for a Toys R Us or Target doll, but the quality and all that you get with the doll makes them well worth the price--the box converts to a trunk for the doll and her clothes, the clothing is wonderfully detailed, and most of the dolls come with fun hair accessories and a Teen Trends booklet. Each Teen Trends doll has her own personality--Gabby is a girlie girl, Courtney a preppie, Kianna a punk, and Deondra a sporty girl.

Our major complaint is that the hair on several of the dolls, especially Courtney, was terribly uneven and a disappointment to us (my daughter won't play with Courtney, the hair is so bad) and the gel made it hard to comb the hair on all the dolls. Other than these hair problems (which we hope Mattel will fix) we love Teen Trend Dolls!
