Annette Himstedt presents her World's Children Doll Collection for 2005

This year's Annette Himstedt dolls have been created based on a children of the world theme. Annette calls it her "World's Children Summit" in Paderborn, Germany (Annette has her manufactory, as she likes to call it, in Paderborn). Most of the dolls are very ethnic in appearance, even the dolls from North America and Europe. The costumes have a bit more of an ethnic flavor than in years past as well.

Annette says about this collection: "And, this year something's awaiting you that I've never done before quite like this. I've always had a special inclination towards ethnic Children. I've always especially enjoyed making these types of dolls. But I've never been as varied as with my new collection, the First World's Children Summit."

Annette put a great deal of attention toward modeling the heads of the dolls to accurately reflect ethnic differences. She also put care into making faces that don't conform to the general doll norms.

There are 36 dolls in the entire collection, all in vinyl, in editions ranging from 277 dolls to 713 dolls (most being in the 277 to 377 dolls range). Prices are higher this year due to the currency exchange rate, with many dolls approaching $1,000 in price. The next few pages of this product tour from Toy Fair 2005 shows some of my favorite dolls from the collection in detail.
