Paulette Goodreau: Always an Artist

Paulette Discusses Some of her Artistic Influences

By , About.com Guide

Question: What type of music do you listen to?

Paulette: I like popular music; I don’t always pick the best. I do like Amy Winehouse’s music, for instance. I also listen to Blink 22, Lincoln Park and similar bands.

Question: San Francisco, New York, London, Rome, Tokyo or Paris?

Paulette: London! London is my favorite city, ever—it was the first city I visited outside the USA. Then, San Francisco because my sister (Annette) went to college in Berkley and I lived there for awhile.

Question: What are your biggest influences online?

Paulette: I don’t have lots of time to go online; sometimes I’ll go on You Tube to see Japanese street wear, and I also visit certain Japanese sites to look at the latest fashion. I get tons of inspi9ration from magazines, but I’m an environmentalist, so I don’t purchase them; I get them from the library or from friends.

Question: Tell me about your pets!

Paulette: How did you know I have pets (laughs). I take care of old, disabled pets—17 in all, 9 cats and 8 dogs. They are all rescued, every one of them has a disability. I have a very large yard where they have plenty of space and can run around, so I have the unique ability to care well for so many.

Question: Is it fun to make dolls for a living?”

Paulette: Yes! It’s fun, but it is not fun to run the business aspect of having a doll company. My collectors are lots of fun though!

Question: What else do you like to do for fun?

Paulette: I’m a real homebody; if I could be anywhere in whole world, I’d be at home. And just goof around with my sister, Annette—she is a mathematician (Annette is the Senior Vice President of Goodreau dolls, and an actuary with an advanced degree in mathematics); and math is artistic; every day, we do a fun art project; even when we have no time, we do it anyway!
