Fashion Doll With Larger Head and Teen Body
Ellowyne is 16” tall which is the size of most of today’s larger fashion dolls, however Ellowyne is scaled differently with a larger head and torso and anime styling with a teen body, so she cannot share clothing with other Tonner fashion dolls.
Ellowyne's Distinct Personality
In company press releases, Wilde Imagination has called Ellowyne’s debut in Denver a reluctant one,” in keeping with her back story and personality. Her Story Is A Little Dark, Yet Funny and Intriguing
Robert Tonner has said about Ellowyne: “This doll definitely has a personality and background all her own. “She’s not quite depressed, but is eternally bored; she dresses differently than girls her age but doesn’t care. She eats whipped cream and edible flowers and lives on a fault line in San Francisco. Her story is a little dark, yet funny and intriguing. She’s definitely not the perfect fashion diva. I believe there are many people who will connect with her.”
Inspired By Anime and Other Modern Influences
The doll debuted officially at the Doll and Teddy Bear Expo in Washington DC. Although I haven't had a chance to see an Ellowyne doll in person, from photos she definitely seems designed with an anime edge, as well as a nod to the popular Japanese ball-jointed dolls that are all the rage. The company says that Ellowyne was “Inspired by a combination of eclectic fashion art, anime characters, and designer shoe ads.”
Direct Mail And FAO Will Be Only Outlets
The doll will only be sold through direct mail, bypassing doll retailers who sell other dolls by Robert Tonner. The only retailer that will be allowed to carry Ellowyne is FAO Schwarz, with locations in New York and Las Vegas. The Wilde Imagination web site will have the doll available for sale in the Fall, probably in October.
Details About Ellowyne
Ellowyne will have 12 points of articulation. A book about Ellowyne is planned, and she will be sold for a suggested retail of $69 for a basic doll, with dressed dolls ranging in price from $110 to $149, and outfits ranging in price from $75 to $99. Most dolls will be done in limited editions of between 300 and 1,000 pieces.
