Robert Tonner of Tonner Doll Company Presiding Over The "Revlon and Glamour Dolls of the 1950s" Seminar
One of the most amazing things at the UFDC doll conventions (and other doll conventions) is the amount of free or inexpensive doll education that is available from well known doll experts. Each day at this convention, there was at least three (and usually more) 1 hour or longer lectures on dolls open to all registered convention attendees. Additionally, for $15, there are 3 hour hands-on or small group (usually no more than 30) seminars on various topics. Finally, there are workshops (for a fee), also generally with a small group, which teach how to make various doll or doll-related items.
Lectures at this seminar included one on doll restoration taught by Nick Hill of Twin Pine Products. Pictured is Robert Tonner teaching his seminar on "Revlon and Glamour Dolls of the 1950s". There were additionally seminars on Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls, Barbie Dolls (which I taught), China Dolls, and much more.
Workshop items ranged from outfits for your fashion doll to dressing small, reproduction antique dolls, to making items for Bleuette.
In the evenings, the free gatherings tend to be fun rather than educational, with gatherings this year for Helen Kish dolls, Bleuette, the Costumers' Guild and more.
