IDEX Returns to the West This Month with IDEX Las Vegas

Its been two years since there has been an IDEX Doll and Bear show on the West Coast. This month, IDEX returns to the West with a new Las Vegas mid-year show. IDEX Premiere has found a new and successful home in Orlando, Florida each January. However, there has been a need for a large doll show for both the trade and collectors out West since IDEX left San Francisco for Orlando. Hopefully, the new IDEX Las Vegas will fit the bill.

Three Days Of Show, Workshops and Events Planned

IDEX Las Vegas will take place Friday through Sunday June 30th to July 2nd. At the show, over 80 exhibitors will showcase dolls and bears, ranging from large companies such as Alexander Doll Company and Marie Osmond Dolls to well-known doll and bear artists such as Hildegard Gunzel and and Oldenburg Originals. On Friday, the show is open to the trade only (retailers and buyers). There will also be an educational workshop for retailers. For collectors, there will be several workshops on Thursday and Friday, including sculpting workshops with Maryanne Oldenburg, Hildegard Gunzel and Diane Keeler. There is also a Tea Time event with Berdine Creedy.

Floor of Show Opens To Collectors on Saturday

On Saturday, the show kicks into high gear with the show floor opening to collectors at noon. Additional events include Christmas in July hosted by R. John Wright and Teddy Bear Jeopardy, and an Alexander Cissy Tea. That evening, the DOTY and TOBY awards will be given out at an Awards event. Finally, on Sunday, the show floor is again open and there will be a Reborn Doll Awards Banquet.

The IDEX Reborn Convention

Concurrently with the IDEX show will be the IDEX Reborn Convention. This convention will celebrate the phenomenon of Reborn Baby Dolls. There will be several presentations and workshops, plus the above-mentioned Reborn Awards banquet.

At The Rio Hotel: A Great Show For Collectors

The events will take place at the Rio Hotel, located off the strip, but the hotel is a world onto itself and a good location for a show. If you are out West, or if you've always wanted to visit Las Vegas and you collect, make or sell dolls, IDEX Las Vegas is worth checking into. I'll be in attendance, and perhaps I'll see you there.
