THE "I's" HAVE IT: INPUT , INVOLVEMENT , IMAGINATION
Dateline: 07/09/98
What a dream come true! Here we have a seemingly limitless space in which to immerse ourselves in the world of dolls. And since it isn't really fair that I be the only one floating around in here, I want you to take a deep breath and jump right in!
What would you like this site to be? What information can we find for you? What questions can we answer? What kind of format would suit you? You won't see what you like if you don't let me know what you want. I have many ideas for our site, but if I use only my ideas it becomes a solo performance. I would much prefer a chorus.
Would you like to see the prize of your collection featured here? Or how about telling us how you got started collecting? Perhaps you would like to share your knowledge of paper dolls or Victorian costuming or American Girl dolls. I often find that the collector is as interesting as the collection, so how about letting us know about YOU? I would love to include something from everyone
Let me share these ideas with you:
Pictures. Does that need explaining? None of us will ever be able to own all of the dolls we want, but do we ever tire of drooling over endless pictures of beauties and cuties? There are great sites on the net and we'll have lots of links, but everyone can get out a camera and start taking shots of individual dolls or a whole collection. (Don't worry if you don't have the ability to scan your photos -- I do and I promise we'll get them up for everyone to see.)
In-depth features of particular artists, manufacturers, and specific dolls from antique to modern. I would like to cover a varied list of types and would need your suggestions and help.
How-to features on dolls of all mediums -- porcelain, wood, cloth, composition, vinyl, wax, etc. How many of you make dolls, or would like to make dolls, or are just interested in the process?
Display. How do you display your dolls? It would be wonderful if we could share our creations here. And, of course, we'll have lots of links to all those places where you can find the materials you need to unleash your creativity through your displays.
Chats with each other and, as possible, with featured guests.
Bulletin Board active with lots of questions, answers, and comments.
Calendar, full of listing of doll shows, signings, programs, and related events. I'll really need your help with items about things in your area.
Collector highlights. A regular feature about you.
What else? I need your opinions, suggestions, and material to make this site work. Let me hear from you. Happy Collecting!
