THE NEW LOOK FOR Dolls at About.com

Yes, you HAVE come to the right place for exploring the world of dolls from Bru to Barbie--same site, different look!   We've just spruced things up a bit.   And, even better, we have reorganized the site to make things easier for you to find.

What's New Here:

Start Pages
There are some new pages to help you find YOUR area of dolls interest, fast.  Debuting this week is a new Antique And Vintage Dolls Start Page.  This is similar to the Barbie Start Page that has been in place here since Barbie joined the site.   Joining these two start pages soon will be a Dollmaking Start Page and a Modern/Play Dolls Start Page.

In the Spotlight
The newest feature will be on top -  in the section marked Spotlight.  The other two links in that area are to the Barbie Start Page and the Antique/Vintage Start Page, and both pages will have all the newest articles, links, gallery photos, etc. featured at the top of those pages.  Occasionally, these two Spotlight links will be pre-empted by breaking news and other articles.  And, another great feature of the new Spotlight section will be links to on-topic forum threads and chats!

Essentials
Essentials covers some of the other great features of the Dolls site that you have come to expect each week--the Dolls This Week News Column, the Clip Art Gallery, the Doll Galleries, How-Tos and much more.  Essentials include a list of all previous articles. Doll Collecting on About.com never deletes anything - we just archive it away for future reference. If you miss a day, you can always check the Past Features link in the Essentials section to see the most recent articles.  Other materials will rotate through the Essentials section as they are needed or added to the site.

Subjects
Perhaps the most convenient part of the redesign is the addition of the Subject Menu which will now appear on the left side of every page on the site. By using this, you can literally access almost every page of the site from any given page. So, if you're reading about Gene Dolls and you decide that you need to find out more about them, you simply click the link marked "Gene" on the left.

Other stuff
The Chatroom and the Forum are unchanged. If you're not a part of this community, then you are missing out on some great support and information, good laughs and some very real friendships.  It costs NOTHING to become a member of Doll Collecting at About.com, so register today if you haven't already.

More changes are on the way, but none so drastic as the new look and layout. In the future, you will be able to purchase advertising specifically on the Dolls site in the form of "Paid Links". Other options will also include forms for reader submissions of content.

The next time you visit the front page (hint hint), look for the Spotlight, the Essentials, and the Subjects list.

It's a new look, but it's still the same old  Dolls at About.com - everything you ever wanted to know about Dolls!
