EBAY ANNOUNCES BOOK ON INTERNET
COLLECTING
eBay (the
online auction site) announced this week the upcoming publication of an official
Guide to Collecting. The book will feature an introduction by Pierre Omidyar,
founder and chairman of eBay. The first printing of 100,000 copies will be available in
November, just in time for the holidays, for $13. "The Official eBay(TM) Guide to
Buying, Selling, and Collecting Just About Anything" is the only authorized book from
eBay (so far) on collecting. The book will focus on person-to-person online

UFDC NATIONAL DOLL CONVENTION ONE
WEEK AWAY; EXPERIENCE IT HERE ON ABOUT.COM!
The 50th annual, national UFDC convention,
themed "Opulence and Elegance" is only one week away! This event promises
to be a gala event, with nearly 2,000 participants, doll competitions, special exhibits,
luncheons, seminars, workshops, annual meeting, and much more! The souvenir doll
this year for the banquet was designed by Robert Tonner. Your Guide will be
attending this event, as well as teaching the "Doll Collecting and the Internet"
seminar, and there will be live UPDATES on this site from the event, as well as a live

HOW WOULD YOU REDESIGN BARBIE--BEANIE
BARBIE OR STARBUCKS BARBIE, PERHAPS?
The San Jose Mercury News had a contest for its
readers to redesign Barbie any way they wished. Their submissions--everything from
Internet Barbie to Starbucks Barbie to Liposuction Barbie--to the winner, Beanie
Barbie--are very amusing!

UFDC NATIONAL CONVENTION, Washington Hilton and
Towers, August 1 to 6
Yearly doll collector's convention; over 2,000 attendees, doll show,
competition, seminars, workshops, banquets, and yearly business meeting. Look for
live, daily updates from the convention on this site! Doll show is open to the
public on Thursday, August 5. . Also in Washington DC at this time is the NIADA
convention at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Bethesda MD which opens its salesroom to
the public on August 1. Finally, the ODACA show is at the Washington Hilton on
Sunday, August 1, also at the Washington Hilton in Georgetown.
