DOLLS WEEK OF JULY 13, 1999
NEWS
EBAY DOWN AGAIN!
EBay
experienced a 14 hour crash on Friday! This was the fourth system failure in roughly one
month's time. If you sell dolls on eBay, you know how costly these outages can be if
you have an auction closing during one, since the last minute bidders (aka
"snipers") won't be able to place their bids during such an outage, thereby
decreasing your price for your doll! And, if you buy, nothing is more frustrating
than NOT being able to bid on a much-wanted doll during an outage. Ebay DOES usually
extend auctions affected by outages, but many sellers and buyers find it difficult to
recover lost auction momentum. Has eBay grown too large, too fast? Read all
about it in The Detroit Free Press
and Forbes.
