MC KENZIE FAMILY Porcelain Dolls

submitted and made by Diane Barsottni; whtrose@sgi.net

mckensie.jpg (43987 bytes)My mother's maiden name is McKenzie. When I started making dolls, I thought it would be fun to make one wearing her Tartan. I've seen several dolls wearing Tartans; one doll even called McKenzie. I started with Rose Pinkul's Amanda. Then I decided that a whole family would be better. So, I made Rose Pinkul's Shawn, and two of Thelma Reisch's Caitlin. One doll as a boy, and one doll as a girl. I'm still waiting for shoes to arrive. On the whole, they're done.

Finding the Tartan was an experience in itself. My husband showed me where to find the Tartan on-line. I thought about finding it around here, but was unable to. He encouraged me to order the Tartan from the on-line store in Scotland. It was easy enough to do, but I had to convert pounds into dollars and visa-versa. That was an education, but one worth learning.
