Dollmasters:
If you have visited the Dollmasters
site lately, you have noticed that the site is "under
construction." The site is going to be re-launched in October,
and will include a full online catalog, PLUS online ordering when it
reopens!
Eve
Delayed: The Eve fashion doll by Susan Wakeen has definitely
been delayed--the doll is now reported to be shipping in October, and
could be delayed further.
Do
You Want a Paper Dolls Folder in the Forum? and
What are Forum Folders and Threads?: Real estate is
going FAST in the Forum right now--we only have 4 folders left out of 15
for grabs. Folders are areas in which we can group threads of
discussion about a doll topic (the main topics are the FOLDERS, and in the
folders people post individual messages that people answer to form
THREADS. There was definitely some confusion about this in the Dog
Days Contest). So far, we have the following
folders: Doll Collecting, Barbie Dolls, Buying/Selling/Trading
Dolls, Doll Restoration/Repair/Customization, Dolls and the Internet, Meet
New Members, Gene/16" Fashion Dolls; Costuming Dolls; Dollmaking,
Dolls Wanted and Help Identify My Doll. The Paper Doll people are
stirring it up right now for their own folder. Do YOU want a Paper
Dolls Folder in the Forum? What other folders would you like to
see? Voice your opinion in the Forum
Thread that is developing on this topic.

Reproduction
Dawn Doll: Its true! That swinging, tiny icon of 70s
fashion, Dawn is back! Doll Reader magazine announced this week that Checkerboard
Toys, Inc. (don't bother checking the link right now--its just a
holding page) is releasing a 30th anniversary reproduction Dawn! The
doll will come in a replica of her most popular box from the
era.
Theriaults
Upcoming Online Auctions: It may seem that I report quite a bit
on doll auctions...and its true, I do! Doll auctions are some of the
most exciting doll events, especially for vintage and antique doll
collectors (after all, its not like there are any new releases to report
on!). Theriaults.com
continues with its innovative program of "themed" online
auctions this fall. Scheduled upcoming auctions include a specialty
teddy bear and animals auction (from dealer Andreas Zenedis, September
15-22) a specialty Betsy McCall Auction (September 22 to 29) and a
specialty Shirley Temple auction (October 6 to 13).
Twin
Pines Special Kit for Doll Hair: Twin Pines of Maine has
developed a new kit for cleaning and styling doll hair! The kit will
include a generous supply of tiny bobbi pins, clips, a wig styling brush,
a pre-shampoo de-tangler, a gentle cleansing doll shampoo, and a
re-vitalizing re-conditioner. The kit should be on the market in about 6
weeks.
Electronic
Toy Shortage For Christmas? Definitely a possibility because of
the shortage of computer trips gripping the toy industry right now.
All sorts of toys may be affected--everything from Pokemon toys to the new
lifelike talking baby dolls. For the full story, read the CNet
article Chip
Shortage Not Child Play For ToyMakers.
