BARBIE
MOVIE!: Its true--Barbie will be staring in her first
full-length motion picture this fall! Barbie will star in "Barbie
In The Nutcracker," This movie is NOT a cartoon--Barbie is in
full motion using CGI video. I saw a small portion of this film at
Toy Fair, and i t
is amazing--Barbie seems real! The dancing is extraordinary, and is
choreographed by Peter Martins, the Ballet Master In Chief for the New
York City Ballet. Ken, Kelly, Tommy and others are in the
"supporting cast." To see some of the amazing DOLLS that
will be released in conjunction with this movie, visit the 2001
New Dolls Main Index!

GET
READY TO SHUCK BUCKS FOR BIG HOLIDAY TOYS: Toy Fair from another
perspective, in this article in the Salt
Lake Tribune This article explores well, how toy companies create a
HOT toy for Christmas. I particularly love this quote: "Last
year, manufacturers got started late. For example, Tiger Electronics'
Poo-Chi, an electronic puppy rumored to emit actual sparks when going to
the bathroom, did not reach stores until April. This late start
meant children were not sufficiently conditioned to ask for Poo-Chi
through potentially felonious behavior. Consequently, the hottest item
last year was PlayStation 2, a gadget so rare that it nearly precipitated
the Apocalypse." OK, so the author exaggerates, but he DOES
sort of have a point....

TWIGGY

Twiggy. Clothing and a VERY neat, retro looking trunk will be
