HAPPY
NEW YEAR! Happy New Year to all my visitors and community
members! I am returning from an extended vacation with my family,
and I 'm back rested and ready to cover ALL the exciting news on dolls for
2001--I'll be at Both IDEX in January and Toy Fair in February, to bring
you ALL the news on Dolls this year, as its breaking!!
THERIAULT'S
AUCTION WEEKEND: Of course, I ALSO cover all the news in
the world of ANTIQUE dolls, too, and one of the biggest events in that
world is the gala, annual auction weekend held by Theriault's
each January. This year's event includes 5 auctions! I'll be
attending all 5 auctions and covering the auctions for this site, and I'm
looking forward to meeting some of you there! Here is the calendar
of auction events--if you've been on the fence about coming out for these
auctions, DON'T miss out--the catalogs are fantastic (you can see some of
the offerings from the catalogs at Theriault's online site):

HISTORY
OF FASHION DOLLS ARTICLE IN BARBIE BAZAAR MAGAZINE:
I was thrilled to see the beginning of a series if articles on The
History Of Fashion Dolls in the February issue of Barbie
Bazaar magazine, that goes all the way back to the French Fashion
dolls of the mid-to late 1800s (instead of starting with Bild Lilli!). As
many of you know, I lecture on The History of Fashion Dolls, and I
have spent much time analyzing the similarities (and differences!) between
the antique and modern fashion dolls. Now, if Barbie Bazaar had only
put a poupee on the cover--THAT would have been something (however, the
photo of Lisette, one of next year's Barbie Fashion Model dolls, is
fantastic!)
AFTER-CHRISTMAS
ONLINE SALES: The
online sales continue! Don't miss the NEW Amazon.com
outlet store! eToys also
has a huge sale going on. Find out more about the sales at online
toy retailers in Overstocked
e-tailers must slash prices for clearance
.
BEHIND
LITTLE SOULS DOLLS IS A SOCIAL CONSCIENCE: Great article from
CNN.com on the success of two dollmakers with their line of "Little
Souls" dolls. CNN.com.
CHAT
ROOM: The chat room is open 24 hours a day, and its free! Just invite your friends in any
time, or stop by to see who's there! http://collectdolls.about.com/mpchat.htm.
