DEWESS COCHRAN DOLL
submitted by Pat Duncan, Baton Rouge, LA pduncan@premier.net
I found this doll at an estate sale in my neighborhood. She was in
two or three pieces and her composition was split at the chin and on the back of the neck.
However, I thought she was pretty so decided to buy her anyway. Asking price--$125.00. A
friend in my doll club restrung the doll and cleaned her clothes for free; a friend of
hers repaired the compo beautifully for only $20.00. To make a long story short, the doll
turned out to be an Effanbee Dewess Cochran American Child. For me, she is the find of a
lifetime. I named her Vivian, and she won a fourth place ribbon in last year's UFDC
convention competition.
