Toys R Us to join Amazon.com for Revamped Online Toy Store: Toys R Us has decided to shutter its own online toy store and partner instead with Amazon.com the giant online retailer! Under the alliance announced Thursday, Toys R Us' Internet subsidiary, toysrus.com, will buy and manage inventory, which will be housed in Amazon.com's distribution centers around the country. Amazon.com will create and maintain the new Web site, handle transactions and fulfill orders. The co-branded toy store is expected to start some time this fall. When the co-branded Amazon.com store opens, the toysrus.com address will lead Web surfers to Amazon.com's toy store. This is just another move in the consolodation of the large online toy companies-- Rival sites KBKids.com, laid off 30 percent of its staff this year, and Walt Disney Co.-backed Toysmart.com closed its doors earlier this year. Girl Scout Troop With Big Hearts: Every now and then you find a heartwarming news story concerning our favorite topic (dolls, of course!), and the following story is certainly one of these! All seven members of Girl Scout Troop 1557 recently were given the Colgate Youth of America award for community service. What they did to get this award was to collect 50 Barbie dolls. The girls gave the dolls makeovers, and donated them to Santa's Workshop, which in turn gave them to girls in need. The girls were in 5th grade, and were looking for a community project that would last through the year. They got people to donate the dolls, they got donated shoeboxes, and then they got to restyle the dolls! For more information on how successful this wonderful charity project was for these young people, visit Rocky Mountain News.com! .
