The Bottom Line

If I were a doll collector and only had to pick one book from this series, this would be it! Both volumes are useful and valuable for doll collectors, though, and having both would be worthwhile.

Guide Review - Shirley Temple Identification, Price Guide II by Suzanne Kraus-Mancuso

For my review of Volume I in this series, I complained that there wasn't enough background, history and explanatory information in the book, and I think that Volume II has addressed that and was a more satisfying read! Dolls covered here include the later Danbury Mint dolls and many of the vinyl dolls, as well as very rare composition versions of Shirley Temple dolls. The Scrapbook section captures the Shirley Temple era nearly better than anything I've read on the topic. Once again, the Strange, Rare and Foreign Items are fabulous--the book shows that Shirley has been immortalized on candy molds, metal belt buckles, Quaker Puffed Wheat cereal boxes and even cigarette ash trays! This book is a definite must for all collector book shelves.
