Madame Alexander Dolls Return To McDonald's Happy

The popular miniature dolls in Happy Meals this month.

Madame Alexander dolls are again available at McDonalds, through October 20! Young (and young-at-heart) McDonald’s guests will receive one of 10 new Madame Alexander collectible dolls during the October Happy Meal event. Boys during this Happy Meal event can instead request six ghoulishly goofy Stretch Screamers.

“McDonald’s is thrilled to offer our guests the season’s hottest toys for boys and girls,” said Karlin Linhardt, senior director kids and family marketing, McDonald’s. “Whether it means debuting a new boys’ blockbuster with ghoulish humor or a classic collectible doll which appeals to both moms and daughters, the Madame Alexander/Stretch Screamer Happy Meal event is certain to delight children and collectors of all ages.”

Madame Alexander – All Dolled-Up Making their Happy Meal debut in 2002, Madame Alexander dolls quickly became one of the most popular Happy Meal toys of all time – earning a spot on McDonald’s top ten list of Happy Meal Toys and an award for Best Marketing Campaign of the Year during the third annual “Toy of the Year Awards” held at Toy Fair 2003. These highly collectible and popular dolls will once again be delighting children and collectors of all ages during this much-anticipated return to McDonald’s Happy Meals. The new Madame Alexander Happy Meal toys feature storybook and contemporary characters including: Rapunzel, Pink Fairy, Hannah Pepper, Hannah Pepper’s Friend, Lady Bug Girl, It’s Raining Doll; and especially for the season, a Halloween Pumpkin – Costume Doll and Halloween Leopard – Costumed Doll. Extending the wedding party introduced last year with the bride and groom, this year’s Happy Meal will offer Caucasian and African American versions of the Madame Alexander Flower Girl and Ring Carrier.

The new characters capture the same quality and timeless charm Madame Alexander has been known for for 80 years. Standing 4 ¾ inches tall, each doll features moveable parts, “sleep eyes” that open and close (an innovation introduced to the toy industry by Madame Alexander in the 1930s), detailed face painting and rooted hair. McDonald’s and Madame Alexander worked closely to ensure the dolls were produced with special details in order to capture the charm of the full-sized dolls which retail for more than $50.

The McDonald’s Madame Alexander Happy Meal event will run from October 3, 2003 – October 30, 2003 at participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, while supplies last.
