Guide Review - Haute Doll Magazine

Wow. I'm impressed. So many magazines have tried and failed to cover the world of the fashion doll that I was beginning to think a magazine like HauteDoll would never be produced, but thanks to the experienced hands of the Barbie Bazaar publishers we now have HauteDoll!

Its rare that I give anything 5 stars in a review, but I do think the 5 stars are justified for this Premiere issue. I like the organization of the magazine in "departments, like a department store:" Petites over here (Little Miss Revlon, Tiny Kitty), in this corner, Misses (Sydney Chase, Miss Nancy from Japan) and even a section for Tots (Ginny) which is a bit controversial since many collectors don't think a child doll like Ginny is a fashion doll.

Nevertheless, I think the departments concept works nicely and I especially like the small, inconspicuous type at the bottom of each page which lets you know which department you are in.

I also appreciate the research and information contained in each article. The article on Miss Nancy was exceptional, introducing me in-depth to a doll I knew little about. And, kudos to the inclusion of the hardly ever included Glamour Misty, a doll from my childhood.

One very small gripe--sometimes, the headings weren't clear, and I couldn't tell when an article or column began OR what it was clearly about until I had read into it for a few paragraphs. Overall, I give my highest rating to Haute Doll magazine, and I can't wait until the next issue!
