An important part of the Doll and Teddy Bear Expo are the much-awaited 2003 Golden Teddy Awards and DOLLS Awards of Excellence. Since 1987, these coveted industry prizes have been sponsored by Teddy Bear Review and DOLLS magazine to recognize artists and manufacturers of dolls, teddy bears and plush who exemplify the highest level of quality and imagination in their creations. The nominees, selected from hundreds of competitive entries by a panel of four independent judges, were unveiled during the 100th American International Toy Fair at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City in February. The official winners will be announced at the Awards Banquet on Saturday, August 30. 2003.
Hildegard Gunzel Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
Renowned doll artist Hildegard Gunzel, who is one of the worlds leading doll artists, has been chosen as the 2003 recipient of Jones Publishing's Lifetime Achievement Award, which honors outstanding contributions to the doll and teddy bear industry. The award will be presented to her by British doll makers Peter Coe and Paul Crees, and by Thomas Boland of Thomas Boland & Co., Inc., at an Awards Banquet on Saturday, August 30.
