A few days ago, I told you about Webkinz, plush animals that unlock the key to an interactive online world. Wow, I thought...wouldn't it be fun to have dolls that did the same thing? Well, the good folks at Ty, Inc. (makers of Beanie Babies) were one step ahead of me, and debuted today at Toy Fair their new Ty Girlz dolls--soft, sassy plush dolls which are the key to their own Ty Girlz world online!
The seldom-seen creator of the Beanie Babies, Ty Warner, was on hand to introduce Ty Girlz to 
the world. His entrance with the Ty Girlz at Toy Fair today was as close to a rock star-type entrance as you'll ever see at Toy Fair, with adoring retailers and press thronging for Mr. Warner's arrival and for a first glimpse of the dolls. The Ty Girlz are soft cloth dolls, with a suggested retail of $11.99. There are six characters, dressed in cutting-edge fashion and with long, pretty hair for hair play. When you scratch-off the dolls' tags, you get a secret code that gets you into their special online world. The dolls will be in stores this Spring.

Well, Webkinz was a way to steal business from Neopets…if you look at it that way, bukt I don’t. Basically, you will see more and more dolls, plush and toys with a web-play component as years go by. It’s a natural evolution of toys and play in the new Internet-centric environment.

Webkinz are such a hit with boys and girls…I don’t think these will have quite the splash…too limiting of an audience…what about the boys??? Forget boy dolls, my boys would never buy a boy doll.

I am very disapointed in TY and pray to God that mother don’t purchase these slutty looking dolls for their daughters to look up to. What kind of image are we trying to set for today’s youth? Horrible.
I work in Retail and am a part of the Webkinz craze. Who ever came up of the idea of a cute, cuddly animal children can interact with? The only thing negative is that instead of children being outside and getting some exercise they are glued to the computer. As far as seeing the new line of Girlz, I too was pretty disappointed coming from TY as I was a big collector of your Beanie Babies and still love them. Your new idea of girls dressed trashy with a lot of make-up and wild colored hair is a real bad infulence on our teens. They are not cute at all. Sorry guys, I work retail and see what is a seller, and right now its Webkinz.
I love Webkinz, but these dolls are great! You can change them and shop and do their nails online! I ordered a bunch, I think my girls will love them. As for webkinz, we all love them but the average webkin now is $25.00, and that is only online not through stores. There are only 6 dolls to collect, maybe they will make Ty Boyz! or even Ty Petz!
We love webkinz and their site is much more user friendly, but my daughter has these dolls and we like them as well. This appeals to the the girly girl side of her. I think it is a great concept and look forward to TY improving upon both their site and their dolls. As for those folks that think that these are bad role models…. A doll shouldn’t be a role model for your child anyway. Let them look to you for that. It’s just for fun… and if you have strong parentingskills then that’s just what it will be fun not life values.

TY Girlz is very disappointing, the web-site is terrible and boring. The dolls can’t even sit on their furniture and when you put more than one doll in it only gives you hair color not another doll in your account. They need to improve this site a GREAT DEAL or it will never make it.
You guys know nothing about those beautiful girls. I have got one set already and enjoy the virtual world very much. They are perfect. I know a friend who works in its factory. She said it is perfect.

Some people that are using this blog are being rude. They are going about and saying trashy comments about a DOLL.
It’s not like their comments are going to close down Ty or anything.

Those who don’t think these dolls are dressed inappropriately probably dress like them…that’s the problem with the world we live in. Children have no idea what modesty is and they have adults to thank for that. Adults are the ones in charge of what’s put in the stores and we as parents allow what’s brought into the home. The management at TY should know better than to market these prostitute-looking dolls to children. It’s a shame. I was saddened to see these dolls on the shelves at Borders bookstore tonight.
Wow. It’s just a doll. I don’t recall trying to dress like my Barbies as a kid. Real people were my role models, not my dolls. Granted some of the dolls out today are a little questionable, but it’s up to parents to teach their children the difference between reality and fantasy.
BTW, I think they are cute. I want one for myself… and I am 33.
i only have 2 ty dolls and i think that it is better than webkinz. it has lots of cool and better stuff that webkinz do not have. thay do look ugly and gay but the real dolls are better lokking. you can buy ty dolls at halmark galleria mall in middeltown. by
