BBC America: My Fake Baby

BBC America is airing a documentary tonight about Reborn baby dolls and the women that collect them. The documentary, called My Fake Baby, will air at 9 pm (8 pm Central time). Reborn baby dolls were also featured on The Today Show on NBC this morning, in a sement entitled Bogus Baby Boom.

I have just, today, received from an ebay seller, a doll that appears to be a counterfeit Madame Alexander Alexander-kins. The picture in the ad was of a charming, luminous doll (as I remember my own childhood Alexander-kins doll to be)and does not even have the same dress or shoes and socks. This doll has dull “skin” and rough seams which appear on the legs to have been filed down. I have been looking on the web for information about counterfeit Madame Alexanders but have found nothing. This doll also has skin-colored molded “hair” under a very poorly positioned wig. Do you have any knowledge of counterfeit, knock-off, phony dolls? Thank you. DollFan
