Theriault's Auction at UFDC Convention: Focus on Black Dolls
Tuesday July 29, 2008
I'm in Las Vegas right now, at the fantastic 59th annual UFDC National Doll Convention! On Sunday, Theriaullt's held an auction of fine antique and vintage dolls. One of the main focuses of the auction were rare antique black dolls. Prices for the black dolls were strong, with most dolls bringing prices at or above estimates. I really enjoyed attending the preview, since it was a unique opportunity to see so many harder to find black antique dolls. The early (1882) black Jumeau bebe pictured here sold for $18,500, above the estimate of $10,000 to $17,000. I've put together Tips for Attending an Antique Doll Auction which will help you be prepared next time you have the opportunity to attend one!
