eBay Feedback Changes Take Effect Today
Monday May 19, 2008
Today, eBay's new feedback changes went into effect. According to doll collectors posting on the eBay Dolls Discussion Board, these changes have not been well-received by either doll sellers or doll buyers. These drastic feedback changes include sellers not being able to leave negative feedback, feedback only counting for the feedback percentages if received in the prior year, and neutral feedback counting as negative feedback for feedback percentages. Ebay was the BEST about 8 or 10 years ago. It was simple to use and people had fun seeing many small items listed. Over the yrs Ebay has tried to force sellers to become BUSINESSES. Many ebayers wanted it to be FUN and a hobby - NOT a business. Everytime Ebay makes changes, the whole scenario gets worse and worse. The average Ebayer doesn’t use half the new “options.” Ebayers are treated as if they’re idiots, with little messages like “you need to pay for 3 items” or “you’ve been outbid, what does this mean.” It’s demeaning. Ebay is no longer FUN. I wish Ebay would go BACK to the screens as they were 10 years ago. Good simple FUN to be on ebay at that time. Now it’s frustrating and many sellers giving up altogether. Ebay always claims that their “changes” are at ebayers request. BULL ! I have yet to hear one buyer OR seller WANT or like the changes. And letting people put 100 items on “watch” …has seriously CURTAILED bidding. Hiding bidders identities has taken the FUN out of seeing which collector you’re bidding against. Ebay has gone totally OVERBOARD with the constant changes every 4 or 6 months. The marketing director needs to be re-assigned. Please LISTEN to your long time users, and go BACK to simplified pages and LESS options of 8 or 10 years ago!
I am slowly but surely leaving eBay after selling for over 7 years. It is truly sad to see what it has become. I refuse to be held hostage to negative feedback simply because some wing nut is having a bad day and decides to take it out on a seller.
I am moving over to onlineauction.com. I really believe this site is going to take off with the mass seller exodus from eBay. I don’t invest lightly and really believe in this customer oriented site.
Once the changes they are implementing as far as more exposure in Google search at the end of June, first of July, go into effect I expect to see significant growth over there! Our members are growing each and every day. Please come over and check it out!
I genuinely believe that Ebay is trying hard to put themselves out of business slowly and affectively. I think they want to be able to say that their demise is the fault of the public. They made their money and now it’s time to get rid of the responsibility of it!
However, I must say that their ludicrous changes have seemed to weed out the “bad” sellers/buyers quite effectively. That is the ONLY plus I’ve seen. But I also see what a “ghost town” ebay has become.
It would be a shame to see it go because of what you’re able to find there but truthfully I don’t see much room for its survival.
I’m sure other sites, whether already in existence or future sites, are waiting with baited breath to be the one to take its place.
