Mino May Look Like Your Average Bear...

Sunday February 11, 2007
Mino The Robotic BearI'm trudging through what seems like the 1000th aisle at Toy Fair today, and a sweet looking teddy bear catches my eye. Hmm...I'm thinking how cute he'd look with some large modern dolls when WHAM, the next thing you know, this bear is talking to me. I mean, really talking to me, and moving his entire body (arms, head, nose, tummy). He's even making sense! Turns out this is no ordinary bear. This is the new Mino, the Robotic Bear. Think Tickle Me Elmo, but way more interactive and with an amazing array of phrases and movements.

Mino needs a power source, but he doesn't need to be connected to a computer (unless you are downloading more games and updates for him). He is controlled by two small remotes that you or the child can hold. Mino has touch sensors on his hand, ears, nose, palm, and stomach, and even a directional mike for sound detection. Mino is not cheap, however...following the trend of more expensive electronic toys, Mino will retail for approximately $299 and will be available in August. My suggestion? Don't put Mino on a shelf with any of your breakable porcelain dolls because this bear can move!
