Dolls From The Closed Mary Merritt Museum To Be Auctioned This Month
Wednesday September 6, 2006
Lately, it seems that there has been a rash of doll museums closing their doors. The Washington Dolls' House and Toy Museum closed in 2004, and its contents were auctioned off by Noel Barrett Auctions. In May, the contents of the recently closed LEGO doll and toy museum were auctioned by Theriault's, which will also auction the contents of the Vienna Doll & Toy Museum this coming January. And now, its the turn of the Mary Merritt Doll Museum. The museum was open for four decades, but closed its doors on December 31, 2005. The contents of the museum are being sold through several auctions, including an auction focusing on dolls and miniatures which will be held by Noel Barrett Auctions on September 30th and October 1, 2006. Although the auction is live, it will also be carried on the Internet via Live Auctions on eBay.
