Trolls Are Back In All Their Ugly But Cute Glory!
Trolls are Back! Really, really back. Once more, the rights to Trolls are back in the hands of the original Dam family. Licensed to Play Along Toys, the brains behind the comebacks of the Cabbage Patch Dolls and Care Bears, Trolls are in great hands and the new Trolls capture the fun and excitement of the originals. Trolls were all over Toy Fair—little clip on samples, Troll branding on the badge holders, even Troll art on the shuttle buses! And, trolls are about to invade your friendly neighborhood specialty store. Basic (but adorable) trolls, good luck trolls, themed trolls and pencil topper trolls (remember twirling the hair on the pencil toppers??) all on the way to retailers right now.
New Trolls have the DAM mark on their feet (plus the new year of copyright—2005—so don’t worry that they’ll confuse collectors of the vintage trolls). The themes are fantastic, and will vary over time. Right now, themed trolls include nurses, firemen, punks, bikers, gardeners, elves and even Rastifarians. The trolls come in four sizes—a pencil topper size with a suggested retail of $1.99,
a 2” clip on size perfect for keys or clipping on back packs for $2.99, a 3” size of good luck trolls (each with a good luck message that you can personalize) for $5.99 and finally the $9.99 suggested 5” size. The 5” size has traditionally been the best seller, and this is the size that will include the themed trolls. I have a great interview about these new Trolls and their future with Gavin Leung from Play Along Toys, plus a photo gallery of the new trolls soon. In the meantime, you might want to brush up on the history of Trolls in my Troll Dolls: Whimsical
Creatures Have Been Delighting Collectors For Half A Century.

I remember when these dolls first came out and they were all the rage, I just can’t believe they’re making a comeback already! They are cute in an odd way and do bring back the memories of the early 90’s, I may just add a couple of these comeback trolls to my current toy collection for the sake of reminiscing.
