My Twinn Dolls Available Again

Wednesday October 6, 2004
Many doll collectors and doll consumers were very disappointed by the bankruptcy of the My Twinn doll company shortly before Christmas last year.
I am happy to report that the company has been brought out of bankruptcy by Denver based eToys Direct, and the web site is again functioning. Catalogs are also being mailed to former customers. The dolls will be available in time for Christmas. Fo more information see eToys Direct Revives Line of Look-Alike Dolls in the Denver Post.

I bought my daughter a my twinn doll for Christmas 2008. The doll was admitted to the hospital on Feb 9, 2009. I’m trying to track the doll, since my 6yr old is very upset that she has not been returned yet. We were expecting her to be returned last week. Unfortunately, the web-site and telephone #’s have changed and I cannot contact anyone. Can you help. Please advise a.s.ap. Thank you

Hi Andrea,

What a tough situation to deal with. We were going to order a doll for Christmas but by grace missed the cut off for Christmas delivery and so decided to wait until later.
Did you try the cs@mytwinn.com email address? It’s listed on their site as the way to contact them re orders and/or dolls in the hospital. Please let us know how things turn out. I am sure there are many other anxious parents waiting and hoping things turn out well for you and your doll.

We bought our daughters My Twinn dolls for Christmas. By Jan. 5 we were packing my 8 year old’s doll up to send her to the hospital. The doll was received by My Twinn on Jan. 8. It is now March 8 and we STILL don’t have the doll. Our daughter looks for her EVERY day. I spoke to someone in the hospital who told me that the doll would ship. That was six weeks ago. Now, I can’t get in touch with anyone.

The Blairs, VA distribution center has moved to Chatham, VA. They are in the process of moving. Looks like the company has been purchased by TPC Acquisition, Inc. Try this phone numner: 800) 469-8946.

We were in a similar situation. We had sent our daughter’s doll to the hospital over two months ago and had received no word. However, after contacting the email address on the website, we were told that the doll had been shipped yesterday and were given a UPS tracking number along with the following response:

Thank you so much for your order. As you may be aware, My Twinn’s parent company declared bankruptcy in December of 2008. The great news is that we are now under new ownership and, despite some delays as we move to new facilities and systems, My Twinn will continue to be in business serving you for many years to come. We are very excited about our future and the products we are developing.

We apologize for the delay in getting your doll back from the hospital and hope you understand. Our website and toll free numbers should be up shortly.

I finally started getting responses to my 5 emails I have sent in the past 4 weeks. they said my doll was never fixed (even though the hospital in Jan. said it was & I’d get it in 10 days), and they were waiting for a new wig, because they were out??? So, someone lied or is lying to me. Either way, I am not happy with this situation & have a very sad child.

I’m very disappointed as well. I sent my daughters doll to the hospital on January 27, 2009 after I spoke several times to a doll expert, who reassured me that the doll would return to me in approx.3 weeks. i recieved one email weeks later stated that the doll would arrive the 1st week in March. I’ve emailed the contact address that was given out on the website several times w/ no replies. My daughter is very upset and asks for her doll daily. I will try the email address again.

We have finally got an email & it said that they didn’t have all the parts for the hospital ‘fix’, and I told them that wasn’t true, because I already had talked to the hospital personally at the end of January who said they were finishing the doll that day & I would receive it in 10 days or less, then I got a confirmation email saying it would arrive in 20. Either way, it’s been 90.

Hi – I have been experiencing the same issue – sent a doll to the hosp in January and no responses to my e-mails. I just filed with the BBB – I will keep everyone posted – has anyone else had any luck?

This is the reply the MYTWINN company sent to the BBB…
MESSAGE FROM BUSINESS:

ID 7849863 – Frankie Thornton – Mr. Thornton emailed us on April 17 asking for information about their doll hospital order. The other emails that were sent (also included in the email he sent to us) were sent prior to us purchasing My Twinn. This doll was not part of the orders that were received during the transition. Because of this, the customer will need to file a claim against eToys Direct, Inc (also known as The Parent Company) for the monetary amount of the doll. This is the website available to the customer: http://omnimgt.com/Public/files/frmMainCase.aspx?cboclient=846.

I have also filed with BBB concerning My Twinn. I had placed an order in Feb. for a doll for my daughter’s bday. I got the confirm email with the links to upload a photo and fill the form out for facial features. The VERY NEXT day I went to finalize these steps and the website had been disabled due to the move. It stated it would be back in a “couple” of weeks. Needless to say…3 months later and many many emails from me…they finally emailed me to say they have no order and I must reorder. Of course the outfit we ordered is more than twice as much now and I had used a $10 off code so now I am waiting to see if they will honor that. I’m keeping my BBB complaint open until I see. I’ve tried and tried to convince my daughter to get another American Girl instead but she has her heart set on this one. Regardless of the outcome there is no way I will recommend this company at this point. They could have handled this transition so much better. The lack of communication and outright lies are unbelievable.

i ordered a my twinn doll recently and have had no problems. if you purchased a doll in the past or submitted your doll to the doll hospital in the midst of the banruptcy and have had problems, you cant hold the new company responsible. i am sure they are working hard to fix the mess that etoys has created. i believe everything will be great going forward. give the new company a chance to fix things.

i also ordered a doll recently and i have to say it was a pleasure. i was told when the parent company went bankrupt they got rid of all the computers with the My Twinn customer information and unloaded all of the my twinn merchandise out of the warehouse they were using. it was a mad scramble to recover all of the My Twinn property and move it to a new warehouse. it was definitely not an easy situation for both the customers and the new company that took over. Give them a chance to regroup and i’m sure everything will be running better than ever for this holiday season. it’s a very well made doll!!!

(19) Mindy Hoover says:

I finally got my daughter’s doll the second week in April. It was gone almost 4 months. The response from the BBB was there was nothing they could do. The horrible thing is that “My Twinn” was accepting doll orders & hospital orders after they filed for bankruptcy & were selling their business. How can they take people’s money AFTER filing & not give a product to people. Why is this legal???? However, we did get our doll fixed, the hair color is not right this time, but I am not even going to complain.. I’m lucky we even got one! At least the new company mailed the doll back we sent to the hospital (4 mths later)
