Madame Alexander Under The Big Top

Thursday August 5, 2004
Tonight, I attended the Under The Big Top Madame Alexander dinner at the National UFDC Doll Convention in Kansas City. The dinner was so festive! Bright circus colors, and traveling clowns for entertainment (the entertainment included some fine balloon hats and animals). The centerpieces were the Madame Alexander Olivia dolls with their big-top circus sets.

The entire Fall 2004 line was set up beautifully for viewing, and I really liked the new 10" Cissy which I saw for the first time. Many dolls were given as door prizes (the generosity of such companies as Madame Alexander and the Tonner Doll Company at these events never fails to amaze me) and the favor doll was a darling Wendy with the new commemorative face dressed as a clown (unfortunately, I am scared of clowns and this is one of the few favor dolls I won't keep in my personal collection).

The morning was taken up by the annual business meeting of the UFDC. For lunch, I attended the Dianna Effner "Little Mommy" event and was treated not only to a wonderful child doll by this talented doll artist, but also to entertainment provided by her singing group, Vivid Image!

Quite a bit more happened, but it is, as usual, late, so you'll have to wait for the full story in my full report. Tomorrow is the last day of convention; I'll be sure to report back with the full report and pictures to follow early next week.
