The Jane Withers Auction And More Fun At The Doll Convention

Monday August 2, 2004
I've just had another long, fun day at the UFDC National Doll Convention in Kansas City. I spent the majority of the day at the two Theriault's doll auctions--both auctions were standing room only, and I simply don't have enough adjectives to describe how charming the Jane Withers Auction was. I'll have a full report on the Jane Withers auction later this week. I gave into exhaustion and left at 10pm and the auction was still going strong--I wouldn't be surprised if the auction went past midnight and there are lots of sleepy auction goers tomorrow morning! I also found out that Theriault's is going to auction off the Laura Meisner collection and part of Mel Odom's (the creator of the Gene doll) personal collection on September 11 in Los Angeles--MUCH more about this later also!

For collectors who weren't in the mood for an auction, there were Dynamic Doll Dialogues (round-table discussions on every imaginable doll type led by experts), and tours of the UFDC National Headquarters and the Toy and Miniatures Museum of Kansas City, plus registration, the ODACA show, the JADE show and much more.

Tomorrow, I'm off to Dynamic Doll Dialogues, my tour of the UFDC Headquarters, several lectures, the official opening of the convention and the grand opening of the UFDC salesroom! I'll be reporting again LIVE tomorrow, so be sure to come back and visit--its the next best thing to being there.
