Barbie Celebrates Her 45th Anniversary As--What Else--A Fashion Icon

Barbie turns 45 this year. Unlike her human contemporaries, Barbie won't need plastic surgery to maintain that youthful look, and she can still wear the same fashions she did as a teenager.

It seems fitting that Barbie will become even MORE of a fashion icon this year, with a fashion line of clothing for adults in Japn, and also a new kids line of clothing done by Julien Macdonald. This new line of clothing is not character-based--its up-market, stylish, and, as Mr. Macdonald says, "occasion wear for little ones: When you ask little girls what they like, they all like the same things: pink, sparkles, angels, flowers."
