Mattel 1st Quarter Earnings Fall, Barbie Slumps

Its been a hard year for Mattel and Barbie, with costs for producing and shipping Barbie dolls rising, toy outlets closing, and with the Barbie play line caught in the middle of a revamp of the Barbie philosophy and product. So, Mattel's 1st quarter earnings have fallen, although Chief Executive Robert Eckert predicts better days ahead.
