Limited Barbie® Outfit Announced For Barbie Fan Club

In honor of Barbie® doll's birthday, the Barbie Fan Club (aka the BFC™) is releasing a special, very limited Barbie outfit just to Fan Club members. The outfit, Melrose Morning, will be available for purchase on March 9, 2004 at 9:00 A.M. (PST). The outfit will cost $24.99 (plus shipping and fees).

Designed by Katiana Jimenez, the Melrose Morning™ Barbie® Fashion is limited to only 2,000 pieces, which is very limited for a Barbie item. The outfit "begins with a sleek burgundy, boot-cut pantsuit matched with a periwinkle chiffon blouse and tank top. Matching sling back pumps, hat, and purse continue the burgundy theme. A faux leather string necklace with pendant brings a final, hip accent." Sold only via the official Barbie Fan Club Web Site, The Melrose Morning™ fashion will be limited to one per Club member for the first 24 hours. After that, Club members may purchase additional quantities.

Personally, as a Barbie doll collector, I tried very hard to resist joining the Barbie Fan Club. But, much like the Borg, I was assimilated. I joined just this week, which means that memberships are still available for procrastinators like me. Membership costs $79.99, and includes an exclusive doll. Membership also includes a snazzy membership card and the right to buy other member-only exclusive Barbie dolls and other items. Overall membership in the club is limited to 7,000 collectors.

The exclusive doll is called "Hollywood Divine." The first 3,000 members to join received a blonde doll, and the rest of the members (including anyone joining now) gets a brunette doll. This wasn't a problem for me, as I preferred the brunette. I haven't decided yet whether or not to order the outfit, but I probably will, as I enjoy separate fashion doll outfits almost more than the dolls!
