The latest trend in play dolls is for manufacturers to create stories about the dolls. When most of today's moms played with dolls, the dolls were a blank slate--their story lines were created by the child. Today, marketers and manufacturers believe the way to have tweens stay interested in dolls longer is to present a rich life for the dolls to the children, through, books, websites, DVDs and more.
