FAO Flagship Store Closes Its Doors

Wednesday January 28, 2004
According to a report from Playthings Magazine, the flagship FAO store has shut down, at least temporarily.

"The store's final hours were described by one FAO employee as "crazy" in the New York Post on Monday as shoppers sought out the last of the Manhattan retail institution's remaining inventory."

The good news is that the new owners have announced plans to reopen FAO Schwarz's New York and Las Vegas stores this spring. If you visit FAO's Web site, www.fao.com you can sign up for the mailing list and and their new catalog, when available. Lets hope that the makeover of the flagship store, plus the Las Vegas store (the only two which survived the bankruptcy) are a big success.
