Last Christmas For FAO Schwarz?

Wednesday December 3, 2003
The news just keeps getting bleaker and bleaker for FAO Schwarz. Today, the company announced that it may file for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection as early as tomorrow, for the second time this year. The company has also announced that it will immediately liquidate their Zainy Brainy educational toy stores.

Doll manufacturers have been pulling limited editions made exclusively for FAO Schwarz and they are selling them directly to consumers or directly to other retailers (I just recieved an order of Breakfast At Tiffany's Alex dolls from Madame Alexander for my doll shop today--these were intended for FAO Schwarz).

If a buyer isn't found for FAO Schwarz by December 15, the NY Post has announced that they may hold a Fire Sale. More on this developing story to follow.
